MetaTrader 5 Trading Features Guide (Practical)
1. Trading Features Overview
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) supports multiple trading operations and management features, including:
Market Orders: Execute immediately at the current market price
Pending Orders: Enter automatically at a specified price (Limit / Stop)
Stop Loss & Take Profit: Automated exit tools for risk management
Modify Orders: Change SL/TP and pending order prices
Close Positions: Manually close to lock in profit or limit loss
One-Click Trading: Fast order placement for short-term traders
2. Market Orders (Instant Execution)
Description:
Buy or sell directly at the current market price
Suitable for following volatility and quick entries
Desktop Steps:
Double-click a symbol in Quotes
Set volume and optional SL/TP
Click “Buy by Market” or “Sell by Market”
3. Pending Orders (Triggered Entry)
Order Types:
Buy Limit: Bullish bias; buy on pullback
Sell Limit: Bearish bias; sell on rebound
Buy Stop: Buy on breakout above key level
Sell Stop: Sell on breakdown below support
Steps:
Create a new order → switch “Type” to “Pending Order”
Set order type, price, SL/TP
Confirm → order remains until price triggers execution
4. Stop Loss & Take Profit
Stop Loss (SL): Auto-close at predefined loss level to control risk
Take Profit (TP): Auto-close at predefined profit level to secure gains
You can set SL/TP when placing an order, or later via “Modify or Delete Order”.
5. Modify Orders & Close Positions
Modify Order:
Locate the order → right-click → “Modify or Delete Order”
Edit pending price, SL, TP
Close Position:
Locate the position → right-click → “Close”
Or enable “One-Click Trading” → click order line on the chart
6. Additional Features
One-Click Trading: Place orders quickly on the chart
Trailing Stop: SL trails price to lock in profits
Symbol Customization: Show favorite symbols in Quotes
Chart Pending Orders: Drag-and-drop pending levels on chart (desktop)
