Network logs record the status of your network connection with the trading platform, including connection issues, latency, disconnections, and more. Support staff typically request network logs to help diagnose and resolve platform connection problems. Below are the detailed steps to download and provide network logs:

1. Download MetaTrader 5 Network Logs

  1. Open the MetaTrader Platform
Launch your MetaTrader 5 (MT5) client.

  2. Access the Logs Folder

    • In the platform’s top "File" menu, select "Open Data Folder".

    • This opens your file explorer and locates the MetaTrader data folder.

  3. Locate the Network Log Files
In the data folder, find the "Logs" folder. Network logs are usually stored here under names like “journal-yyyy.mm.dd.log” or “terminal-yyyy.mm.dd.log”.

    • Log File Naming: Filenames include the date and either “journal” or “terminal.”

    • Log File Type: These are plain text .log files viewable with any text editor.

  4. Select the Required Log File
Choose the log file covering the requested time frame. If unsure, select the most recent file.

  5. Copy the Log File
Right-click the log file and choose “Copy”. Paste it to an easily accessible location, like your desktop or documents folder.

  6. Send the Log File to Support
Attach the copied log file to an email or submit it via the support platform. Include the time frame and specific issue encountered to help support diagnose the problem quickly.
